Why I Wrote What I Carry in Silence

I never planned to write a prayer book. I planned to survive. To keep showing up for my family, my faith, and the life I was building — even when all three were testing me at the same time.

But somewhere in the middle of a season that would not end, I started writing prayers. Not for anyone else. For me. Because I needed words and I didn’t have any. I needed to talk to God and my mouth couldn’t form what my heart was carrying.

Those prayers sat in a notebook for months. Some of them were messy. Some of them were angry. Some of them were barely finished — just a few honest lines and an Amen that felt more like a collapse than a closing.

And then one day I read them back and realized that these are not just my prayers. These belong to every woman who has ever carried something heavy in silence and didn’t know how to say it out loud.

That is how What I Carry in Silence was born. Not from a plan. From a need. From the kind of faith that does not feel like faith, but keeps showing up because it does not know what else to do.

These prayers do not teach. They do not preach. They sit with you. They were written for the woman who is still standing — through waiting, through silence, through pain no one sees.

I wrote this for you. And I am honored to place it in your hands.
